About the course
Our Film Studies programmes are designed for people who are passionate about film, and who want to develop a deeper understanding of its history and culture, as well as experience filmmaking for themselves. Combine this with the opportunity to learn another language and you’ll graduate with high-level language and intercultural abilities that will open up a wide range of career options. Hull offers excellent language learning facilities, with a dedicated space for languages students. Our dedicated team of advisors offer one-to-one support and a partnership scheme which lets you practise your chosen language with native speakers.
The diverse range of film studies modules, from television studies to East Asian Cinema, and from horror movies to Disney – mean you can tailor the degree to suit your own interests. Plus, with Hull being the 2017 UK City of Culture, you’ll be at the heart of a huge cultural celebration, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. You’ll benefit from brand new facilities – such as Middleton Hall, where we’re investing £9.5 million in creating a world-class concert hall, cinema, and theatre space. These come on top of our existing state-of-the-art TV, film and digital media facilities on campus.
