About the course
Recognised by the EU as a Masters of Excellence, the MA in Women’s and Gender Studies (GEMMA) is the first programme of its kind. It carries high prestige within the European Union and is sponsored by the European Commission, which provides a small number of annual, competitive scholarships.
The degree involves a consortium partnership with six other European Universities: Granada (Spain), Oviedo (Spain), Utrecht (Netherlands), Bologna (Italy), Lödz (Poland), Central European University (Budapest, Hungary), and Rutgers (State University of New Jersey). You’ll spend one year studying at Hull and all or half of your second year at a selected partner University.
On completion of the course, you’ll be awarded with a Masters qualification from both universities, meaning you receive two Masters degrees.
