About the course

This is a specialist advanced programme in international economics, which reflects the fundamental importance of economics to understanding and shaping the world economy.

You will develop a critical awareness of the theory, developments and current issues in economics and international economics, an appreciation of the policy context, and an ability to apply economic principles and methods to analyse the international economy.

Entry requirements


The programme is a specialist Masters degree in economics, providing advanced analytical and quantitative training. You will have a minimum of a 2:2 Honours degree or equivalent in Economics, strong quantitative skills, and a good command of English.

International students

If you require a Tier 4 student visa to study or if your first language is not English you will be required to provide acceptable evidence of your English language proficiency level.

This course requires IELTS 6.0 overall, with 5.5 in each skill.

Study information

You will study the following modules

You will use your accumulated subject knowledge, together with study of research methods and ethics, to write a dissertation.
